The Word in Ruigoord presents
Flaming Tongues.
3 days poetry and music.
June 7-9 2003
Day 2
I forgot to mention that Ruigoord
is very close to the airport
Schiphol.
I woke up after 3 hours of good solid sleep,
from the noise
of an air plane that was landing.
We made a small breakfast outside the bus.
We were just finished when
it started to get very windy and before
we
could clear our stuff we had to
hide in the bus for the heavy rain.
It was cozy and about 2 hours later
the sun came back.
We went to the
Dead Cow Bar
for a second breakfast.
With some nice tasting champagne
and some nice salad we started the day again.
In the church the program was already started
but due to not enough
and red light
I couldn't make great pictures.
Here is one.
I find it very difficult to write
something about all the people
that performed
because you should be there
and experience it yourself.
For me there were some great moments
and only a few less great moments.

Every day there were also workshops
for kids and mostly around six
they showed up and walked with
their new things through the village.
Mostly early
in the evening we
heard the sound of the horn.
Many people played this
beautiful instrument.
It sounded great together with all the
other noises
and the planes that flew over us.
After dinner and seeing some
more poetry in the church,
the
more musical program started.
First of all there was Alice Rose from Australia
with an very impressive one woman show,
followed by Dutch troubadour
Armand
and ending with DJ Toadstool with
his Celtic swing with worldly
overtones.
I took some pictures with flash and you will see
that there
are many spots on the pictures,
because I forgot to clean the lens,
but
anyway I show some of them.
The first one is Alice from a distance.
This is Armand, a few hours after his performance.
Then some pictures of people dancing and enjoying.
In between I wandered sometimes to
the other bar where that night was
more
a kind of sixties revival,
which I enjoyed also very much.
Drinking the perfect red wine
and swinging on music of the Turtles
and
Jeff Beck and many others.
And again it was close
to six before I hit my bed.
